The Story of Dorothy’s Florist
Dorothy’s has been part of the heart of flowers in Scottburgh for nearly six decades. Established in 1966 by Dorothy Hillcove, the shop quickly became known for its beautiful floral arrangements and thoughtful service along the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, just south of Durban.
In those early years, flowers were carefully transported from Durban to Scottburgh — sometimes even travelling further down the coast before reaching their final destination. Today, Dorothy’s continues that same commitment to quality, with fresh flowers arriving regularly to ensure every arrangement is as beautiful as the moment it represents. Operating from the same premises for over half a century, Dorothy’s has become a trusted name for flowers in Scottburgh, known for celebrating life’s special moments and offering comfort during difficult times.
Most recently, under the ownership of Cheryl who has lovingly run the Dorothy’s Flower Shop for six years, the shop continued to serve the community with warmth and dedication, while introducing subtle updates to keep the space fresh and inviting.
Today, Dorothy’s enters a new chapter — honouring its rich history while embracing a gentle revamp and a renewed focus on flowers, gifts and beautiful things. The legacy remains the same: thoughtful gestures, meaningful moments, and the simple beauty of flowers in Scottburgh.
